Effects of testosterone and metformin on the GlycanAge index of biological age and the composition of the IgG glycome

Vinicki et al.

Geroscience

1

Objective

Assess whether metformin and testosterone provide anti-aging benefits in healthy men with excess weight.

2

Methods

82 participants were randomized into four groups: placebo, metformin, testosterone, or both. GlycanAge was measured at baseline, 6 months, and 1 year.

3

Results

Testosterone significantly improved glycan markers of inflammation and reduced biological age. Metformin showed no consistent anti-aging effect—except for one individual who responded positively.

4

Conclusion

While metformin benefits diabetic and prediabetic patients, it does not appear to have strong anti-aging effects in most healthy individuals.
