Today we’re bringing you a story of a family, told from the perspective of the mother and grandmother - Brittany and Sharleen respectively. Their exceptional story shows the perseverance of spirit in spite of hard times and how much power knowing your biological age can give you.
I'm going to start off with congratulations because you recently gave birth to two children and you have an amazing GlycanAge result, which is very unusual for us. Could you share your secret and describe how you got here?
Brittany: Thank you so much. I’m glad to share my story with your audience and help other moms feel better. So a month before taking my GlycanAge test, I started using these stem cell activation patches. They are supposed to use your body's phototherapy, and your body's own cells kind of entrap them. They are super simple. I just put them on in the morning.
I also consume Analemma water. It's a wand that you mix your water with for 30 seconds. It's supposed to restore and restructure water back to what it's supposed to be without anything added to it. And the funny thing is, that's actually how my family found out about GlycanAge. They use your tests in their studies and research. Once we researched your brand a bit more, we fell in love and decided to use them to test out our progress.
So to get back to the patches, once you’re using them, you're supposed to consume a lot of water anyway, and I realized that doing the Analemma wand on my water has made me drink more of it. Also, I'm more mindful of it.
I put the energy into it and then I feel amazing about drinking it. I think it also changes the taste of the water, it's smoother. But other than that, I've also been raised very holistically without Western medicine. I think the first time I ever took antibiotics was when I was 14 years old and I soon realized I was allergic to them.
My mom and grandma were raised the same way. Everyone was encouraged to grow their own food and consume things that felt good. I also didn't have many meat products growing up and lately, I’ve been testing out different things. One of them was GlycanAge and I came in 8 years younger than I am.
That’s really interesting, I look forward to hearing your mom’s perspective on this as well, but let’s start with your diet. Can you give us a rundown of what you eat in a day?
Brittany: I definitely made some changes lately. I drink a lot more water and have been raised eating a very clean, healthy diet. I try to stay away from non-organic products just because I know that they're pumped with stuff that our body doesn't need.
We have a garden every year and truly try to fuel our bodies with the best ingredients. Of course, I’m human so I snack at night when my kids are asleep. I also drink two cups of coffee in the morning. I use oat milk and a coconut creamer that's just pure coconut products omegas since I’m trying to stay away from sugar.
I don’t know if I told you this, but I was raised on 46 acres of land in the middle of nowhere. And it wasn't like we could run to the store and get something. It was like you dealt with what you have on your property, which was good for us. We had no TV or Internet.
Was there any type of lifestyle event that was maybe a turning point for you to start looking more into biohacking?
Brittany: Yeah, actually. After having my second child, I started getting a lot of cysts on my neck, jawline and breasts. And it's always scary having lumps, so I thought, what can I change? Then I got knee pain that became constant and I just couldn't do anything. I couldn't work out. So I went and got an MRI of my knee even though I’m not a fan of MRIs and X-rays.
The doctor said that I had the arthritis of an old man in my right knee and that I could not bend my leg more than 40% for the rest of my life. That was a huge shock for me since I have two kids and I simply can not ignore their needs and wishes.
I was like, there's no way I can give up, I have to find something that's going to help me feel better, and honestly, what has helped me the most, was finding the right supplement.
I’ve been using the NutriSwish. It’s really simple, I just swish it and then I can go and do my workout without feeling any pain in my knee and I can almost do more with my workout. To me, it really has been like a miracle product.
I’m glad to hear you found the right course of action. I know that your mom is also a biohacker, what is some advice that she gave you that stuck with you?
Brittany: The most important thing has to be my great-grandma’s and my grandma's attitude towards life. My mom always talks about them. They just had a good life, even though stuff was hard, you know? My great-grandma had 4 kids and she was one of 14 kids.
She came over here and just kept her willpower and wasn’t doing what society was telling her to do and she held her ground, basically. But let’s ask her directly.
Sharleen: I feel and look great now, but I very much thoroughly abused my body. I was a binge drinker, and that did a lot of damage.
Luckily, I've come full circle and come back to my family and the way I was raised. I have so much gratitude for my family and the things that they did. My grandma's main focus was to not be judgmental at all and to love, but to stay connected to your body and the earth.
It was a very spiritual thing for her. And now I just have great gratitude and awareness of my journey. However, that’s easy to say now, but growing up and being the only kid whose mom is saying no to fluoride at the dentist, as well as being the one kid who eats sprout sandwiches had an effect on me. I wasn’t as grateful as I am now.
That’s so interesting. Seeing how your whole family practices holistic medicine, was that what first attracted you to GlycanAge?
Brittany: Actually, that’s a great question, because we’re about to buy 4 new tests to test everyone again. I just feel like we're doing our own tests to see which of these products work and whether they work for all of us. GlycanAge definitely lets us see the results in more of a clinical matter.
My result was great as I mentioned before, I’m biologically 20 years old, which is the lowest your results go. I wanted to get an even better result, but since that isn’t possible, I’m focusing on keeping my results amazing.
Are there some misconceptions about biohacking or healthy living that you think a lot of people share?
Brittany: I think that a lot of people follow anything that Western medicine tells them. I know that it’s hard to believe that anything outside of what a doctor says can be good for them. But it’s important that you listen to your body.
Even my doctor, when I asked about the GlycanAge test, said she didn’t think there was enough information to back it. But here I am, doing my own research and hacking my biology.
Unfortunately, there are still doctors who aren’t willing to look into glycans and all the goodness they can provide. On that note, what are some self-care tips that you would like to share in order to inspire others?
Brittany: Definitely listen to your body and intuition and don’t focus so much on what everyone else is saying.
Sharleen: People need to learn what it means to actually be in our bodies. Be curious and recognise what is it you’re feeling when you're doing different things like changing your diet, meditating and so on.
It’s sad that as adults, we don't play. We don't have the time for our relationships, mainly the ones we have with ourselves. But if we can let ourselves know that we’re present and grateful, our whole outlook can change.
You can wrap it up in spirituality, science, chemistry, or whatever you want. As long as you feel more power and more capacity to understand what your intuition wants you to know.
